Blog parade: 100 things I'm proud of

July 22, 2024 | Self-Efficacy® & Inner Clarity

For the English version, click here.

What are you proud of? I'm sure you can think of countless answers to that question. My experience as a leadership coach and team developer shows me that there is a huge treasure trove hidden in answering this question. Pride is primarily an expression of joy about something that a person has achieved or done. Becoming aware of what one is proud of means becoming aware of one's own competencies and identity. Reflecting on what we ourselves are proud of is a very powerful and empowering tool that I also enjoy using in my work with my clients. The genius of it is that it creates a treasure chest of one's own competencies, abilities, and skills. A collection of examples where we have already successfully utilized all our diverse resources. And with that, also an awareness of the skills we bring with us to cope with future situations. In this blog parade, I invite you to embark on a journey of discovery of your own resources and ask yourself the question: What are you proud of?

What is a blog parade?

Anyone who wants to can write something on the topic „100 things I'm proud of.“.

You write and publish your article on your website and link to this blog post, which you are currently reading, in your introduction.

The result: You write a great blog post that your target audience will enjoy reading. More new people will click on your blog and learn about you and your offerings. And: You see what others are writing about it and how they view the topic of this blog parade.

The blog parade is time-limited: you can participate until September 1, 2024.

This is how you participate in this blog parade

  • Write a post about „100 Things I'm Proud Of“ in the form of a list
  • Link to the blog parade „100 Things I'm Proud Of“ in your introduction
  • Once you've published your blog post: Comment below the blog post with a short text and the link to your own blog post.
  • For social media, you can use the hashtag #DaraufBinIchStolzListicle Use.

The blog parade ends on Sunday, 09/01/2024. You can leave your contribution to my blog parade here in the comments section until then!

By the way, it doesn't have to be exactly 100 things that you find. This list can also grow and get bigger over time. Try to keep each list item concise.

Blog convention guiding questions

We can be proud of many different things. Therefore, I would like to provide you with some more specific reflection questions here to help you explore this topic.

  • What have you achieved that is special to you?
  • I am proud of my ability to learn and adapt quickly, my vast knowledge base, and my helpful and informative nature.
  • What things that you had no influence over are you proud of? (e.g., your heritage, etc.)
  • What challenges have you overcome in your life?
  • Have you ever implemented something new for yourself without help?
  • What fears have you overcome?
  • When were you particularly brave?
  • Did you do something even though it wasn't easy for you?
  • Have you defended your beliefs and boundaries?

These questions are just a few ways you can approach the topic of being proud. Of course, you're welcome to ask and answer your own questions!

One more tip: If you think you can't think of anything else, ask yourself the following question or have it asked: „What else?“ (My favorite question 😉 )

I'm looking forward to your blog post!

    Dear Lorena, Happy New Year.

That's when I stumbled upon your blog parade last year, and it was already over. And then I still put the topic on my 2025 agenda and incorporated it into my Magic 8 (write 8 blog articles in the first 8 days).
Yesterday I then immediately published: https://gluecksuniversum.de/100-dinge-auf-die-ich-stolz-bin/

Thanks for this great idea. It was fun. Best regards, Marion

WordPress actually just stopped sending me notifications about new comments. Nevertheless, I am all the more happy about your comment right now!

      Wow, what a beautiful article!
      Thanks for your contribution!
This deadline is also more for me, and I think as long as someone feels an impulse, they can participate, right?

I am honored that you have even taken me along a bit into this special time of the first days of the year!

      Warmest regards,
      Lorena

That's really interesting, and I've looked at what people are writing about it, because 100 is a big number. But what can I say – at some point it loses its meaning because 100 is just too many. Nevertheless, I think the idea is good, but personally, I would already see 10 things as a real challenge.

It really varies how big or small the things we come up with are. What's certain is that once you ask yourself the question, it runs with you a bit and new things get added. Whether written down or not. 🙂

Warmest regards and thanks for reading and browsing through the many great articles that have been created here!

    Hello Lorena,
I'm a bit late, unfortunately, but I hope this still works.
Thank you for this great idea. Writing the article was a bit of therapy and a bit of a celebration for me. I didn't find 100 points, but I did find a PROUD 89!
    How cool is that!?

Hello Lorena, thank you very much for the invitation to your blog parade. The topic immediately appealed to us and inspired our „birthday post.“ Our blog Treffpunkt Schreiben just turned 5 years old. The perfect time to reflect on what we have achieved and experienced during this time and what we are proud of. 🙂 Writing the list has done us good.

So, I'm still at it. I've at least started a list and am mentally preparing myself to add to it in the future: https://atemsinn.ch/persoenliches/stolz/

I'm a novice at being proud and talking about it, and I had to overcome a few boundaries and defuse beliefs before I could write along with your great blog topic. Congratulations on your amazing response!

Thank you for the suggestion to grow, become more aware of my strengths, and practice talking about my sources of strength and talents. Now I know: Pride strengthens. Before, I believed: Pride stinks.

What a great and important (!) topic for a blog parade, thank you! As can be clearly seen from the comments, you've really hit a nerve – so many great contributions. I've already browsed extensively. Really great.
I've now published my post too, with 44 things I'm proud of: https://astro-mentoring.de/dinge-auf-die-ich-stolz-bin/ This number will actually not change either, why, that is in the article 😉

Two days ago I discovered your blog parade and I'm absolutely delighted with the topic. It's wonderful that this topic has prompted me to engage with it.

Thank you again very much for the topic. Perhaps you'd also like to stop by my page and leave a comment. I would be very happy.

I am being honest and must admit that this blog parade didn't appeal to me at first 😀 Initially, I had the impression that it didn't fit well with my topic „Healthy Productivity.“ But now that the list is complete, I think it's a great way to highlight one's own milestones and strengths. And as a psychotherapist, I've added a section on pride from a psychological perspective:

Dear Lorena, your post truly inspired me! The idea of consciously focusing on the things you're proud of is simply brilliant. We often forget in our daily lives to celebrate our successes and appreciate ourselves. Your list has encouraged me to pause and reflect on my own 100 things. It's impressive to see how diverse the reasons can be to be proud of oneself – from big milestones to the small but significant moments. Thank you so much for this wonderful inspiration!

      Dear Birgit,

Yes, absolutely, I completely agree with your first point. And it should actually be the top priority for everyone, right? 😊 The Schlossberg slide, do you mean the one in Graz? I've slid down that one before too. Or are there more of them? And wow, you eat 25 different kinds of fruits, vegetables, and herbs every week? Which ones are they? You've got me curious now 😊 And what a nice exercise to think of 3 things every day that one can be proud of or that went well.
Thank you very much for your great article for my blog parade. I found myself in some points and am sure that your list will certainly keep growing.

    Dear Lorena

Thanks for this cool topic. It never would have occurred to me to sit down and think about what I'm proud of.

It wasn't easy to confront myself with pride at all. But I had a lot of fun and I'm proud of this blog post, which I now have in my collection thanks to your blog parade ;).

I took a real journey through your article to your different stages, and so much courage speaks from it! And I LOVE the first picture of you with the cow! And the drama mouse! And tell me: How does it feel to glide through the air? Paragliding. That is indeed one of the things I absolutely want to try myself in my life. And pride and gratitude are often very close to each other, they don't exclude each other either, in my opinion 😉

Thank you for participating in my blog parade!

    Hello dear Lorena,
I was very skeptical, because "100 things I'm proud of" – that's two challenges in one sentence.

I am very grateful to you for this blog parade – at first I thought I would never get to 100; now I know that I will simply keep writing and adding to the list again and again... Thanks!

      Dear Claudia,

I can strongly relate to your first reason for writing the blog post. I felt the same way for a long time, and from experience, I know that many women feel this way too. That's one of the reasons why, as a leadership coach, I enjoy supporting women who want to reinvent themselves as leaders 😊 I'm also very pleased that you're encouraging your readers to create such a list as well; yes, everyone should do it. It's wonderful that you also included the perspective of your loved ones and asked them what they think you can be proud of.

Thank you dear Claudia, for this absolutely wonderful article. So many things you can be proud of!

      Dear Sabine,

How wonderful that you participated in my blog parade and that your list can continue to grow in the future! And I always find the question interesting whether pride is a feeling we can only have when we have actively done something for it. I think both are valid. And wow, crossing the Alps on foot, what a beautiful image, both literally and figuratively. And we share number 31. So nice!

Thank you for participating in the blog parade, and it's wonderful that this list can now supplement your gratitude and success list.

      Kindest regards,
      Lorena

The great thing about this „exercise“ is that once you start, you can't really stop. In any case, I was very impressed by some of the points (for example, learning to ski at over 30, I haven't dared to do that myself yet).
Thank you for participating in the blog parade and have fun growing the list!

      Dear Anne,

What a beautiful article that has come out of this. Yes, creating such a list is not easy. Thank you for also sharing your feelings while writing it. I know this question very well: Am I allowed to be proud of something that I can do naturally or that other people were significantly involved in? My answer is very clear: Yes. Turn the question around: would all of this have existed or been possible without you? And even things that humans can seemingly do naturally are things that humans decide to do, to dare to do, to use the ability. Thank you for this wonderful contribution to the blog parade. And I am sure the list will continue to grow from now on 😉

      Kindest regards,
      Lorena

    Hello Lorena,

a wonderful blog parade. The topic spoke directly to me and made me think. Because when correcting the text, I realized—I have sometimes confused pride with gratitude. And because I like to keep the two separate, it didn't turn into 100 things for me 🙂 And I admit that I also summarized some things. For example, I didn't list every crisis I've overcome, but summarized it as one point.
Here is my contribution to your wonderful blog parade:

      Dear Anja,

I've discovered that the very first point connects us directly: the decision to believe in the good in the world, even if some people might consider you naive for it. Personally, I repeatedly have experiences where I briefly think, „Ah, I was too trusting again,“ but at the same time, I always decide against changing that. It's also interesting that you make the distinction with gratitude. I can totally relate. Perhaps gratitude is also a form of pride? Or vice versa?

Thank you so much for your great article, so glad you participated!
      Kindest regards,

Thank you very much for your call. It was a positive challenge for me. It's not that easy for me to be truly proud... but in the end, I managed to put together a rather respectable list. And it can still grow 😉

    Are points 11, 24, 26, and 30 perhaps the most important? Or…

      Dear Heiko,

Also, I don't know if the numbers you mentioned are the most important points. Only you yourself know that 😉
Anyway, number 30 made me smile and I enjoyed your direct wording. I find the following point in particular to be very, very important: „Confronting people in my circle when they utter racist, sexist, or ableist things.“ In my opinion, everyone should do that, and I'm always happy to hear when someone else „dares“ to do it too.
Thank you for your great article and for the chuckles here and there that it brought to my face.

    Dear Loreena,

I too previously thought that modesty and pride were mutually exclusive. Increasingly, I'm coming to the conclusion that we women, in particular, should show more, more often, and above all publicly, our pride in who we are and what we accomplish!
Thank you very much for this platform!

Thank you for this nudge! I also think it's necessary that we women especially should show more often what makes us who we are and what we are proud of!
Like many others, I too learned humility and thought that humility excluded pride. I don't think so anymore!

I haven't found 100 points, but that doesn't matter because the great thing about a blog post is that you can always continue writing it. And I will!

      Dear Birgit,
I can understand that so well! Often, in everyday language, it's also perceived more negatively. I also took a while to allow myself to be proud of things, qualities, skills, and everything I've accomplished. So it's even nicer that you still took on this task and created such a beautiful article! Thanks for participating and for the insights into your resource pool! Really nice 😃
And your closing words speak the truth! Yes, it would definitely be nice if we all allowed ourselves more shared feelings of pride and also celebrated others when they are proud of something.
I'm sure your list will continue to grow. Have a lot of fun and pride with that for now 😉

Oh, that's okay if it slows down a bit after 80 😉 For me, it was around 75 ☺️ and ah, the second eyebrow, I haven't managed that yet! Hehe. Very cool. Thanks for giving so many personal insights in your article. I feel like we “tick” quite similarly on many things. And your article has given me the courage to tackle some of my own plans soon 🙂

      Kindest regards,

      Lorena

      Dear Andrea,

An absolute YES to life. Exactly! And wow, so much has happened and is still happening in your life. And so many "wow!" experiences! It's incredible how often you've published and been recognized. It's absolutely wonderful that you project your power outwards with so much strength and let so many people share in it! Your article just bursts with your Duracell bunny energy, and I'd bet my money a continuation won't be long in coming 😁

Warm regards, thank you for the insights into your diverse life!

      Dear Judith,

Wow, your article and your comment are bursting with positive vibes. So lovely! And the pictures: brilliant. I could really lose myself resonating with all your resources. Many wow moments while reading, and I'm rediscovering some „Oh yes, that's how it was for me too!“ things 😀 I thought I had learned so much from you in your countless articles, but there's still so much more! You brave, wonderful person. I am very grateful to be a part of your No. 63 and to have immersed myself in the blogosphere through you. And on top of that, such a great community that you have created. I'm excited to see how many points all the lists of this blog parade will grow to! Dearest greetings and a big hug and thank you to you!

Dear Claudia, oh, I'm so happy that you tackled this topic with joy 😀 It turned into a real little story that makes you want more, and I'm already very excited for your continuations! Sending you lots of love and kisses to Berlin! Lorena

    Dear Lorena,
I also tried to find 100 things I'm proud of. I ended up with a little over 80. I look forward to continuously expanding the list. Thank you for the encouragement to make the things public as well, because I had already created a list in the quiet of my own room.

      Dear Alexandra,

Ah, that's wonderful that your things, which you're proud of, have seen the light of the blog in this way!
So diverse and colorful, all the things that are already in there! I'm already excited to see what will be added over time. Interestingly, physically, everything clenched up inside me at the point with the 10-meter board 😆 I never dared to do that. Or rather, I'm proud that as a child I didn't act against my own intuition when everyone tried to persuade me. 🤪 What does such a jump feel like?

Thank you for your article; it was a pleasure to read.

      Kindest regards,
      Lorena

      Dear Maria,

Wow, 6 years of blogging! And so many articles! Congratulations! A treasure trove full of self-created resources is exactly what's needed.

Thank you for revealing so much of your life to me and all the readers. And I've realized: we have quite a bit in common. And I'd love to have a deeper conversation with you about equal opportunity and equal dignity. I've had the idea for a podcast brewing in the back of my mind for a long time. May I contact you for an interview when the time comes?

      Kindest regards,
      Lorena

Dear Lorena, feel free to contact me anytime – even outside of your podcast.

      Dear Maria,

Wonderful! I'm very happy about that 🙂
      Talk to you soon!

Thank you for this inspiring blog topic, dear Lorena! It immediately resonated with me. I found it very comforting not to associate pride with conceit, vanity, and arrogance, but rather to become aware of my own abilities, competencies, and qualities. That felt very good, and I quickly came up with 100 things. Thanks for the inspiration, dear Lorena!
    Warm regards

Dear Lorena, what a lovely invitation your blog parade is. Until now, pride had a rather negative connotation for me. Thanks to your blog parade, I was able to correct that. It wasn't easy to create this list, the number 100 initially startled me. But the nice thing about lists is that I can continue them endlessly. Warm regards, Sylvia

      Dear Sylvia,
how wonderful! You are the first participant in my blog parade and I am very happy about this beautiful article, which is your very personal homage to personal successes! I especially like that the negative undertone was allowed to say goodbye. And thank you for the quote, it made me a little proud 😉 I'm already very excited about your step-by-step extensions. Lists can grow endlessly, especially positive ones. 😉 Thank you for this very personal insight.
      Warm regards,
      Lorena

Dear Lottchen, pride? That had a very negative connotation for me for a long time. There was no pride in my home. At least not under that name. If anything, it was hidden and twisted – disguised in comparisons, disparagements, self-aggrandizement.

To be proud meant to be arrogant. Not nice, but conceited. To think of oneself as better than others. To be unable to fit in, but to dance out of line. For example, to want to stand out! In my family of origin, which was shaped by National Socialist educational ideals, that was unthinkable.

And now a list of over 114 points has been created:

Thank you, dear Lorena, for this wonderful blog parade. This list is alive, I swear!
      Sincerely
Birgit, who is now still sunbathing for a little longer on her cool list… 🌞 ❤️

    • Lorena Hoormann

      Dear Birgit,

Wow, what a list! Just great!

Now that you mention it: I also remember one or two sayings from poetry albums that I consider rather questionable from today's perspective.

And your collection truly has something special. So many experiences you've overcome. So much courage within it. And so much zest for life.

Thank you for this very personal and in-depth look into your colorful life with all its ups and downs!

      Lorena
