There are many different terms surrounding the "self," each describing countless aspects. Often seen as a reactive factor to circumstances, as an attitude, as an interaction with the immediate environment, and in how we exist in the world and perceive ourselves. In the process of developing my wordmark (SelbstwirkKRAFT) and creating the accompanying concept (work in progress), I've researched all sorts of words used around the self. This is how this glossary came about, which I don't want to withhold from you.
A little extra: Instead of neutral definitions, I've rephrased them. Thus, you'll also find a large collection of possible affirmations here. Reading through this will already have a positive effect, even more so if you read it aloud. But one doesn't have to overdo it right away 😉
For easier navigation, I've divided the terms into categories. Have fun looking through it. And if you find a term missing, please let me know!

Dear Lorena,
Wow! What an accomplishment to put this glossary together! I can imagine how much work you put into it. It's incredible how many terms there are with „self...“ Strangely, I can think of a few more for the last point: self-destruction, selfishness, self-punishment... I really like that you formulated the definitions as affirmations in the first part.
Best regards,
Angelika
Dear Angelika,
Yeah, crazy, right? And that's not even all of them! Thanks for your additions, I'll gladly include them. It's interesting that something seems to be missing for you specifically here, but not surprising, because our brains are very good at making us aware of what's missing, negative, and potentially dangerous 😉
If you think of anything else, please feel free to share!
Kindest regards,
Lorena
Dear Lorena
What an epic self-list! Great topic you've chosen.
I immediately looked up FRIENDSHIP WITH ONESELF, the concept of self that philosopher Wilhelm Schmid writes about. A guide to friendship with oneself. He means a «friendly, calm relationship with oneself that makes life easier.» This concept has become important to me because I quickly develop resistance when it comes to anything related to the self. That's me – and there's always a way to oneself, for example, through body awareness and breathing, which I trust from experience.
Warm regards from Susanne
Dear Susanne,
Thank you for your comment and especially for the addition! I'll include it right away. An important concept and an even more important journey. From self-acceptance to self-friendship and then self-love. A journey that is worth it. Embodiment and breathing, perceiving oneself and accepting and seeing oneself as one is. One of the more difficult exercises 😉 If anything else comes to mind that I should add, feel free to reach out anytime. And I will now add; Self-friendship = I have a friendly, calm relationship with myself, which makes my life easier.“
Kindest regards,
Lorena
